The Shannonside Recreational Campus (SRC) has proudly announced a pivotal funding development with Cora Systems committing to a substantial €200,000 donation which will ensure the completion of a key component of Phase 1 of the project, a state-of-the-art all-weather 4G pitch which will cater to GAA, rugby, and soccer. The pitch – to be called ‘Cora Pitch’ – will provide a much-needed boost to sports facilities in the Leitrim and Shannonside region.

Philip Lowe, chair of the SRC Finance Committee, shared his heartfelt gratitude:

“I would like to sincerely thank Cora Systems for their gracious and generous financial support for this project. Without this cornerstone donation, we simply would not come close to delivering on the ambitious vision and goal that we have for the SRC. Cora’s financial support of this project will have such a positive impact on the lives of countless children, clubs, societies, families, and anyone lucky enough to work locally or call this part of the world home. It has been a long road making this dream a reality, and we have experienced challenges along the way, but I can safely say that this is our brightest day yet. This cornerstone donation will be the difference in bringing this key phase of the project to completion.”

Founded in 1999 by Philip Martin in Carrick, Cora Systems has grown into a prominent global project and portfolio management software company. With more than a third of their 220+ member team based in the Northwest region, Cora remains deeply committed to regional development. As Susanne Kerins, Cora’s Chief Marketing Officer, explains:

“We’ve always believed in the importance of investing in our local community, where we feel a strong sense of place and responsibility. By contributing to initiatives that enhance the region, we are not only improving the quality of life for everyone here but also creating a more attractive environment for top talent. What’s good for the region is good for us, and we’re committed to making a lasting impact that benefits both our community and our business.”

For over a decade, the SRC project team has been working tirelessly to address the severe shortage of quality sports amenities in the region. Phase 1 works for the facility are well underway, and once completed the Campus will include not only ‘Cora Pitch’ but also a 400m 8-lane tartan running track, grass pitch, hurling wall, indoor arena with 2 basketball courts, gym and extensive changing rooms and parking areas.

In addition to Cora Systems’ transformative contribution, the SRC has recently launched ‘Forty Founding Families’ and ‘Founding Patrons’ initiatives to engage further community support. These programmes offer local families and businesses the opportunity to contribute financially and be recognized within the facility, fostering a sense of ownership and pride across the region.
